How to become a Parle Products distributor
Parle Products’ contact page names distributorship requests outright: call 1800-209-6929 or email [email protected].1 Parle has also told the Competition Commission of India that it “does not appoint all and sundry as its distributor”.2 Here is what it looks for, what it does not publish, and what the work looks like.

Parle sells through distributors, who sell to shops. When the B2B app Udaan (Hiveloop Technology) complained against Parle to the Competition Commission of India (CCI) in 2021, the CCI’s order of 6 Jul 2022 recorded Parle’s own words: “As a part of FMCG, Parle is very particular about the appointment of distributors”.2
- It picks; it does not take all comers. Parle wants “a distributor with a real-world presence, informed of ground realities”, and “does not appoint all and sundry as its distributor for its products.”2
- It wants distributors that last and pay. “For Parle, it is important that its distributors are entities capable of surviving in the long term and are further capable of honouring their payment obligations.”2
- It does not sell to B2B apps directly. Udaan went to the CCI after Parle refused to sell to it directly, and said it would be forced to buy Parle goods from Parle’s distributors, Business Standard reported in Jul 2022.3 The CCI dismissed the complaint. Its order notes Udaan’s own statement that 115 of the 235 vendors selling to shops on Udaan were Parle distributors.2
Parle Products is a private company and publishes no annual report, so its network figures come from the press. It has more than 7,000 distributors, about 75 lakh outlets and 130+ manufacturing units, “according to the company”, afaqs! reported in Aug 2026.4 The Economic Times also put the network at more than 75 lakh outlets, in Sep 2026.5

Our suggestion, since Parle publishes no format: name your town and the shops you supply today; give your godown address and size, your vehicles and how often you run each beat; say how much credit you give shops now and how you collect it; list the companies you distribute for and your GSTIN. These answer the points Parle raised with the CCI: a real presence, knowing the ground, lasting, and paying on time.
What you need before you apply
No company in this series publishes a full document list. These are the registrations the law itself asks of a distributor, from the government’s own pages:
| Registration | When you need it | Where |
|---|---|---|
| GST | Once your turnover crosses ₹40 lakh (₹20 lakh in Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Puducherry, Sikkim, Telangana, Tripura and Uttarakhand), or at once if you sell to another state. Without it you “can neither collect tax from [your] customers nor claim any input tax credit”, so a distributor supplying GST-registered shops registers. (GST Council) | gst.gov.in |
| FSSAI | For any food. From 1 April 2026: Registration up to ₹1.5 crore turnover, State licence ₹1.5–50 crore, Central licence above ₹50 crore. (FSSAI order, 13 Mar 2026) | foscos. |
| E-way bill | For each consignment over ₹50,000 moved by motor vehicle. Van sales to shops go on a delivery challan. (CBIC, e-way bill FAQ) | ewaybillgst. |
| E-invoice | Once your turnover crosses ₹5 crore, for bills to GST-registered shops. (CBIC Notification 10/2023) | Your billing software, through the GST e-invoice portal |
| Shop & Establishment | Set by each state. Example: Maharashtra registers places with 10 or more workers (Form A) and takes an intimation from smaller ones (Form F), with no fee. | Your state’s labour department |
| Udyam (MSME) | Optional and free. For traders its benefit is limited to priority-sector bank loans. (Ministry of MSME) | udyamregistration. |
FSSAI rules a distributor must follow
- Buy and sell food only from and to FSSAI licensed or registered businesses, and keep the records. (FSSAI licence conditions)
- Give a warranty in Form E on your bill or cash memo when you sell food to a shop.
- Licences and registrations issued from 1 April 2026 do not expire; the fee is still yearly, and you may pay several years at once. (FSSAI FAQ, 27 Mar 2026)
- On the application, tick every kind of business that applies: Distributor/
Supplier, Wholesale Trade, Storage/ Warehouse/ Cold Storage. - Fees: the last published table is ₹100 a year for registration and ₹2,000 for a State licence for traders. FSSAI said in March 2026 that fees were reduced, so check the amount on FoSCoS when you apply.
What Parle has said about distributor money
- Shop credit comes from you. Parle told the CCI that its distributors “stock bulk inventory, despatch goods in small quantities to shops in their area, collect cash, and offer retailers unsecured credit at zero interest”.2 Our suggestion: count the credit you will give shops as part of your working capital, along with the stock.
- Returns come to you first. Distributors also “receive unsold goods/spoilt stock/broken stock back”.2
- Paying Parle on time matters. Parle wants distributors “capable of honouring their payment obligations”.2
- Margins, terms and investment. Parle does not publish distributor margins, the credit or payment terms it gives distributors, or an investment figure, and we found no credible report of them.
Fake “Parle distributorship” offers
The common patterns of these frauds are in our main guide.
Once you are appointed: what the work looks like
- Your beat. Parle told the CCI what its distributors do: visit retailers regularly, help them hold the right stock “by placing appropriate order”, collect money for goods sold, and “ensure proper display and merchandising”.2
- Returns and shop-wise records. Take back “unsold goods/spoilt stock/broken stock”, and “maintain and provide retailer-wise buying/billing in terms of packs/
volume/ value”.2 - Rules at the kirana. Distributors “take the onus of compliance with existing rules and regulations for the company”, because they deal directly with the kirana.2
- Ordering software. We found no Parle Products ordering app for shops on Google Play, and Parle has not named its distributor software publicly.
- B2B apps. Udaan alleged before the CCI that Parle ended one agency’s distributorship because it supplied Udaan.2 The CCI dismissed Udaan’s complaint.2,3 Our suggestion: ask Parle in writing before you sell Parle stock to any B2B app.
