How to become a Haldiram’s distributor

Three family companies use the Haldiram name in India. The Delhi and Nagpur families merged their packaged-food businesses into Haldiram Snacks Food Pvt Ltd (HSFPL) in April 2025, Business Standard reported.4,5 HSFPL runs haldirams.com, which has no distributorship form; a banner across the site says it does not accept online payments for super stockist or distributorship deals.1,3

Which Haldiram’s company you would deal with

The Haldiram brand in India is run by three separate family companies, based in Delhi, Nagpur and Kolkata, Business Standard reported in March 2025.4 Two of them are now one company. Keep them apart:

CompanyOwned byBrand and websiteWhat is on record
Haldiram Snacks Food Pvt Ltd (HSFPL)Delhi family 56%, Nagpur family 44%5Haldiram’s, haldirams.com3The merged packaged-food business of Haldiram Snacks Pvt Ltd (Delhi) and Haldiram Foods International Pvt Ltd (Nagpur). The merger was completed in April 2025.4,5
Haldiram Bhujiawala LtdKolkata familyPrabhuji9About 2,000 distributors serving more than 2 lakh retailers; sells mainly in West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and the North-East; also runs 19 retail outlets and 60 franchise stores (Business Standard, Nov 2024).9

Business Standard reported that HSFPL will manage the consumer-products business “for the entire Haldiram group”, meaning the merged Delhi–Nagpur side.4 So for Haldiram’s packets, the company to approach is HSFPL. The Kolkata company is a different business with its own brand: an appointment by one is not an appointment by the other.

What HSFPL says about its network. Very little. The only trade roles it names are in the warning banner on its website: “super stockist” and “distributorship”.1 CRISIL, rating the Delhi company in April 2025 before the merger, credited its distributor network for growth and said packaged foods were 85% of the Delhi group’s turnover and restaurants 15%.8 We found no credible count of HSFPL’s distributors or super stockists; the figures on case-study and blog sites were left out.

Who owns HSFPL now. Business Standard reported that Temasek signed in March 2025 to buy nearly 10% for about $1 billion;4 that Alpha Wave Global and Abu Dhabi’s IHC together took about 6%, valuing the company at about $10 billion (₹85,000 crore);6 and that L Catterton invested an undisclosed sum in December 2025, partly for “supply chain and distribution optimisation”.7 HSFPL has not said what that means for its distributors.

How to apply: what the company publishes

  1. Know that haldirams.com has no distributor form

The “Enquire now” form on haldirams.com/contact-us asks for name, mobile number, email, message and “Enquiry Regarding”. The only choices there are Product, Store, Order and Other. There is no distributorship or super stockist option.1

  2. Use the contacts it does publish

The same page lists support@haldirams.com for general queries, the helpline 0712-2779451 (a Nagpur number) and careers@haldirams.com for jobs. It shows a Corporate Office (its map points to Noida) and a Registered Office (its map points to Nagpur).1 None of these is labelled for distributors.

  3. Write once, with the facts of your business

Our suggestion, since HSFPL publishes no distributor route: write to support@haldirams.com from your own email, or choose “Other” on the form. Say whether you are asking about a super stockist or a distributor role. Give your town and the areas you can cover, the snack and namkeen brands you carry now, your godown address and size, your vehicles, your GSTIN and FSSAI licence number, and how many shops you supply today. Keep a copy of what you sent.

If your market is West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand or the North-East, the Kolkata company also sells there under its Prabhuji brand.9 We could not open its website to check a distributor contact, so we do not list one.

What you need before you apply

No company in this series publishes a full document list. These are the registrations the law itself asks of a distributor, from the government’s own pages:

RegistrationWhen you need itWhere
GSTOnce your turnover crosses ₹40 lakh (₹20 lakh in Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Puducherry, Sikkim, Telangana, Tripura and Uttarakhand), or at once if you sell to another state. Without it you “can neither collect tax from [your] customers nor claim any input tax credit”, so a distributor supplying GST-registered shops registers. (GST Council)gst.gov.in
FSSAIFor any food. From 1 April 2026: Registration up to ₹1.5 crore turnover, State licence ₹1.5–50 crore, Central licence above ₹50 crore. (FSSAI order, 13 Mar 2026)foscos.fssai.gov.in
E-way billFor each consignment over ₹50,000 moved by motor vehicle. Van sales to shops go on a delivery challan. (CBIC, e-way bill FAQ)ewaybillgst.gov.in
E-invoiceOnce your turnover crosses ₹5 crore, for bills to GST-registered shops. (CBIC Notification 10/2023)Your billing software, through the GST e-invoice portal
Shop & EstablishmentSet by each state. Example: Maharashtra registers places with 10 or more workers (Form A) and takes an intimation from smaller ones (Form F), with no fee.Your state’s labour department
Udyam (MSME)Optional and free. For traders its benefit is limited to priority-sector bank loans. (Ministry of MSME)udyamregistration.gov.in

FSSAI rules a distributor must follow

  • Buy and sell food only from and to FSSAI licensed or registered businesses, and keep the records. (FSSAI licence conditions)
  • Give a warranty in Form E on your bill or cash memo when you sell food to a shop.
  • Licences and registrations issued from 1 April 2026 do not expire; the fee is still yearly, and you may pay several years at once. (FSSAI FAQ, 27 Mar 2026)
  • On the application, tick every kind of business that applies: Distributor/Supplier, Wholesale Trade, Storage/Warehouse/Cold Storage.
  • Fees: the last published table is ₹100 a year for registration and ₹2,000 for a State licence for traders. FSSAI said in March 2026 that fees were reduced, so check the amount on FoSCoS when you apply.

Money: what is on record

  • Paying for an appointment. HSFPL’s banner says: “We do not accept / encourage online payments with respect to super stockist / distributorship / franchisee / employment.”1 It does not say whether any deposit is taken offline.
  • How fast the trade pays. CRISIL wrote in April 2025 that the Delhi company collected its dues in about 8-10 days and held about 22-24 days of inventory.8 That is an average across all its buyers, not a published distributor credit term. Our suggestion: plan your working capital as if you pay for stock within days, and ask for the credit terms in writing.
  • Margins. HSFPL does not publish distributor or super stockist margins. For packaged snacks in general, Business Standard reported in November 2024 that super stockists typically get about 3-5% (including performance incentives) and distributors 6-6.5%.12 Those are industry figures, not Haldiram’s.
  • Investment and deposit. Not published.

Fake “Haldiram’s distributorship” offers

These frauds have cost people real money. In September 2021 Delhi Police said a gang had run lookalike websites of Haldiram, Amul and Patanjali and pushed them up with Google Ads. One woman who wanted a Haldiram outlet paid ₹11.74 lakh over two months in “verification” and “security deposit” charges, The Tribune (PTI) reported.10 Earlier that year, Haldiram Foods International (the Nagpur company) went to a civil court in Nagpur to get lookalike domains taken down, after people across India paid lakhs of rupees to fraudsters for dealerships and distributorships. It also issued a public notice and filed police complaints, The Hitavada reported in February 2021.11

The common patterns of these frauds are in our main guide.

Once you are appointed: what the work looks like

  • HSFPL does not publish how its distributors place orders, which billing or distributor management software they use, or how schemes and claims for damaged or expired packs are settled. We found no credible source for any of these.
  • The company is changing how it runs supply: the December 2025 L Catterton money is meant partly for supply chain and distribution optimisation, Business Standard reported.7
  • Our suggestion: before your first order, get in writing how expired and damaged packs will be taken back, how schemes reach the shops, and how many days of credit you get, because none of it is published.

Questions people ask

Does Haldiram’s have a distributorship application form?

No. The enquiry form on haldirams.com offers only Product, Store, Order and Other. The site publishes support@haldirams.com and the helpline 0712-2779451, and neither is labelled for distributors.

Does Haldiram’s charge a fee for a distributorship?

Haldiram Snacks Food Pvt Ltd does not publish any fee. Its website says it does not accept or encourage online payments for super stockist, distributorship, franchisee or employment deals, so a request to pay online for an appointment does not come from it.

Can I get a Haldiram’s franchise?

Haldiram’s (haldirams.com) says it “does not offer franchise opportunities to third parties at this time”. A franchise is a shop, not a distributorship. The Kolkata company, Haldiram Bhujiawala, is a separate business; Business Standard reported in November 2024 that it runs 60 franchise stores.

Is Haldiram Bhujiawala the same company as Haldiram’s?

No. Haldiram Bhujiawala Ltd is the Kolkata family’s company, with the brand Prabhuji, selling mainly in West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand and the North-East. Haldiram’s on haldirams.com is Haldiram Snacks Food Pvt Ltd, owned by the Delhi and Nagpur families.

What margin does a Haldiram’s distributor get?

Haldiram’s does not publish margins. Business Standard reported in November 2024 that snack brands typically give distributors 6-6.5%; that is an industry figure, not a Haldiram’s one.
