How Bikaji appoints distributors

Bikaji’s IPO prospectus (November 2022) describes two models:1

  • Inside Rajasthan: direct distributors. Most products reach the market through distributors Bikaji serves itself (p. 169).
  • Outside Rajasthan: super-stockists or depots. Most sales go through super-stockists or depots “appointed for defined territories”, who reach shops through sub-distributors and dealers (p. 169).
  • Indirect distributors work under the super-stockists. They are appointed by Bikaji’s sales team and by the super-stockists (p. 45).

At 30 June 2022 the network had 6 depots, 38 super-stockists, 416 direct distributors and 1,956 indirect distributors in 23 states and 4 union territories, managed by an on-ground sales team of 119 people (p. 171):1

Two super-stockists, one covering Assam and one Bihar, made up 29.76% of Bikaji’s food sales in April-June 2022.1

The shift since then. By January 2023 the count was 8 depots, 46 super-stockists and 507 direct distributors.5 From 2023-24 Bikaji’s investor slides show a “Shift from super stockist to direct distribution model”.6 Its August 2026 slides repeat the focus on direct distribution and show its own carrying and forwarding (C&F) points in Delhi/NCR, Ghaziabad, Varanasi, Ahmedabad, Raipur and Pune. Outlets it reaches directly rose from 2,72,040 in June 2024 to 3,70,893 in June 2026, and it puts its total reach at 14.46 lakh outlets.7

Where it is growing. At the IPO, Bikaji named its core states as Rajasthan, Assam and Bihar, and its focus markets as Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Haryana, Delhi, Karnataka and Telangana.1 In February 2026 it said that of about 3.35 lakh outlets it covered directly, about 1.65 lakh were in focus states, 1.15 lakh in core states and 55,000 elsewhere.8

In 2025-26 Bikaji sold to 780 dealers and distributors (823 the year before). They bought 72.48% of its sales, and the top 10 of them took 47.48% of that.3 This is the number Bikaji bills itself; it is not split into super-stockists and distributors.

How to apply: what the company publishes

  1. Know that bikaji.com has no distributor application

There is no distributor form, email or phone on bikaji.com/contact-us. Instead the page tells you not to deal with “any other portal claiming to represent Bikaji to sell products or appointing new distributors”.2

  2. The written contacts it does publish

The “Write Us!” form asks for name, email, mobile number and “What’s on your mind?”. The page gives [email protected] for questions, concerns or help. The toll-free number 1800 102 9046 and [email protected] are for online-order enquiries only (Monday to Saturday, 11 am to 5 pm). The registered office is in Bichhwal Industrial Area and the corporate office in Karni Extension, RIICO Industrial Area, both in Bikaner.2

  3. How Bikaji actually meets distributors

Bikaji says it engages distributors through “Meetings and exhibitions” (2025-26)3 and, the year before, through meetings, phone and emails.4 Indirect distributors are appointed by its sales team and its super-stockists.1 Our suggestion: ask the shops in your area which super-stockist or distributor supplies their Bikaji stock, and write to [email protected] asking for the sales contact for your district. Give your town and the areas you cover, the brands you carry, your godown address and size, your vehicles, your GSTIN and FSSAI licence number, and how many shops you supply.

What you need before you apply

No company in this series publishes a full document list. These are the registrations the law itself asks of a distributor, from the government’s own pages:

RegistrationWhen you need itWhere
GSTOnce your turnover crosses ₹40 lakh (₹20 lakh in Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Puducherry, Sikkim, Telangana, Tripura and Uttarakhand), or at once if you sell to another state. Without it you “can neither collect tax from [your] customers nor claim any input tax credit”, so a distributor supplying GST-registered shops registers. (GST Council)gst.gov.in
FSSAIFor any food. From 1 April 2026: Registration up to ₹1.5 crore turnover, State licence ₹1.5–50 crore, Central licence above ₹50 crore. (FSSAI order, 13 Mar 2026)foscos.fssai.gov.in
E-way billFor each consignment over ₹50,000 moved by motor vehicle. Van sales to shops go on a delivery challan. (CBIC, e-way bill FAQ)ewaybillgst.gov.in
E-invoiceOnce your turnover crosses ₹5 crore, for bills to GST-registered shops. (CBIC Notification 10/2023)Your billing software, through the GST e-invoice portal

Udyam (MSME)Optional and free. For traders its benefit is limited to priority-sector bank loans. (Ministry of MSME)udyamregistration.gov.in

FSSAI rules a distributor must follow

  • Buy and sell food only from and to FSSAI licensed or registered businesses, and keep the records. (FSSAI licence conditions)
  • Give a warranty in Form E on your bill or cash memo when you sell food to a shop.
  • Licences and registrations issued from 1 April 2026 do not expire; the fee is still yearly, and you may pay several years at once. (FSSAI FAQ, 27 Mar 2026)
  • On the application, tick every kind of business that applies: Distributor/Supplier, Wholesale Trade, Storage/Warehouse/Cold Storage.
  • Fees: the last published table is ₹100 a year for registration and ₹2,000 for a State licence for traders. FSSAI said in March 2026 that fees were reduced, so check the amount on FoSCoS when you apply.

Money, godown and stock: what Bikaji has said

  • Payment in advance. The prospectus says: “Most of our superstockists and/or direct distributors are required to make payment to us in advance.” Bikaji gives credit to “certain” of them, and does not say which or for how many days.1
  • Your own godown. Under Bikaji’s distribution agreement, the super-stockist or distributor books and fulfils orders and arranges “adequate warehousing and storage facilities”. Bikaji delivers to your godown, and the stock becomes yours there (pp. 169-170).1
  • Super-stockists work only for Bikaji. The prospectus says its super-stockist arrangements “prohibit them to work on any other assignment other than with our Company without our prior permission”.1 Our suggestion: ask before you sign whether this applies to the role you are offered and to the brands you already carry.
  • Margins. Bikaji does not publish them. For packaged snacks in general, Business Standard reported in November 2024 that super-stockists typically get about 3-5% (including performance incentives) and distributors 6-6.5%.9 Those are industry figures, not Bikaji’s.
  • Investment and deposit. Not published.

Fake “Bikaji distributorship” offers

The common patterns of these frauds are in our main guide.

Once you are appointed: what the work looks like

  • Company software. At the IPO, Bikaji said it was giving its super-stockists and distributors a distribution management system and sales force automation, to coordinate with them and keep central control of the network.1 It has not published the name of the system.
  • Sales data. Bikaji says its technology gives super-stockists and distributors product and sales trends in real time (p. 170).1
  • Meetings with the company cover sales planning, distribution expansion, delivery and dispatch planning, and product and retailer feedback.4
  • Paying before dispatch is the rule for most partners, as above.1
  • More shops. Bikaji measures its growth in outlets reached directly.7 Our suggestion: keep a list of every shop you serve and the date it first ordered, so you can show the coverage you add.
