How to become an ITC distributor

ITC publishes no way to apply for a distributorship. The one page it has on the subject is a fraud alert: “ITC never asks job aspirants or members of the public to pay any amount of monies in any form while recruiting, or for offering distributorship or franchisee.”1 This article covers ITC’s FMCG foods and personal care products only.

How ITC reaches shops

This article is about ITC’s FMCG foods (Aashirvaad, Sunfeast, Bingo!, YiPPee!) and its personal care products. ITC’s other businesses, such as cigarettes, agri and paper, are not covered.

ITC’s distribution is run by its Trade Marketing & Distribution (TM&D) vertical.3 What ITC’s own reports say about the network:

  • Reach. Nearly 70 lakh retail outlets, “over 40% of which are serviced directly”. Overall market coverage is about 2.1 times pre-pandemic levels.3
  • Rural stockists. In villages ITC uses “a hub-and-spoke distribution model and extensive rural stockist network”.3 In Nov 2024 it said its rural stockist network had grown 1.3 times over the previous two years, alongside tie-ups with rural-focused eB2B players.4
  • Distributors. ITC’s digital network included “nearly 3,000 distributors and 2.6 million retailers” in Nov 2024.4 Its 2025-26 sustainability report counts 9,512 dealers and distributors buying from ITC, but that figure covers all of ITC’s businesses, not only FMCG.5

How to apply: what ITC publishes

  1. Know that there is no application form

ITC’s website has no page or form to apply for an FMCG distributorship. Its only page on distributorships is the fraud alert, which says ITC never asks for money for one.1

  2. ITC’s general contact channels

The itcportal.com contact page has a “Write to Us” form (message, name, country, pincode, address, phone, email) and names one person: “For any queries or grievances, contact Mr. Aurko Dasgupta at contactus@itc.in”. The registered office in Kolkata is on +91-33-22889371, Monday to Friday, 9 am to 6 pm.2 ITC does not say that any of these handles distributorship requests.

  3. The Foods Division office

ITC’s address list gives the Foods Division headquarters as ITC Limited, Foods Division, Pulikeshinagar P O, Bengaluru 560 005, Tel 080-22981100 and 080-22981200, with a branch office at D3/7/D, Ashoka Cresent, Deodar Marg, DLF Qutub Exclave, Phase-1, Gurgaon 122 002.2 ITC does not list this office as a distributorship contact either.

  4. Say exactly what you can run

Our suggestion, since ITC publishes no format: if you write through the form or [email protected], name your town and the shops you can reach; list the companies you distribute for now, your godown address and size, your vehicles and your GSTIN. If you are in a village or small town, say so and ask about the rural stockist role.

What you need before you apply

No company in this series publishes a full document list. These are the registrations the law itself asks of a distributor, from the government’s own pages:

RegistrationWhen you need itWhere
GSTOnce your turnover crosses ₹40 lakh (₹20 lakh in Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Puducherry, Sikkim, Telangana, Tripura and Uttarakhand), or at once if you sell to another state. Without it you “can neither collect tax from [your] customers nor claim any input tax credit”, so a distributor supplying GST-registered shops registers. (GST Council)gst.gov.in
FSSAIFor any food. From 1 April 2026: Registration up to ₹1.5 crore turnover, State licence ₹1.5–50 crore, Central licence above ₹50 crore. (FSSAI order, 13 Mar 2026)foscos.fssai.gov.in
E-way billFor each consignment over ₹50,000 moved by motor vehicle. Van sales to shops go on a delivery challan. (CBIC, e-way bill FAQ)ewaybillgst.gov.in
E-invoiceOnce your turnover crosses ₹5 crore, for bills to GST-registered shops. (CBIC Notification 10/2023)Your billing software, through the GST e-invoice portal
Shop & EstablishmentSet by each state. Example: Maharashtra registers places with 10 or more workers (Form A) and takes an intimation from smaller ones (Form F), with no fee.Your state’s labour department
Udyam (MSME)Optional and free. For traders its benefit is limited to priority-sector bank loans. (Ministry of MSME)udyamregistration.gov.in

FSSAI rules a distributor must follow

  • Buy and sell food only from and to FSSAI licensed or registered businesses, and keep the records. (FSSAI licence conditions)
  • Give a warranty in Form E on your bill or cash memo when you sell food to a shop.
  • Licences and registrations issued from 1 April 2026 do not expire; the fee is still yearly, and you may pay several years at once. (FSSAI FAQ, 27 Mar 2026)
  • On the application, tick every kind of business that applies: Distributor/Supplier, Wholesale Trade, Storage/Warehouse/Cold Storage.
  • Fees: the last published table is ₹100 a year for registration and ₹2,000 for a State licence for traders. FSSAI said in March 2026 that fees were reduced, so check the amount on FoSCoS when you apply.

What ITC has said about distributor money

  • No fee. “Do not pay or transfer money to get ITC jobs or distributorships/franchisees.”1
  • Payments and credit. ITC says its digital tools across the order-to-cash cycle have meant “faster working capital turnaround for trade partners”, and that it has tied up with banks and FinTech partners for payments and financing, “Integrated with the UNNATI platform”.3
  • Margins and terms. ITC does not publish distributor margins, return on investment or the credit terms it gives distributors, and we found no credible report of them.

Fake “ITC” and “Aashirvaad distributorship” offers

The common patterns of these frauds are in our main guide.

Once you are appointed: what the work looks like

  • UNNATI app. ITC’s eB2B app covers more than 8 lakh outlets.3 Its Google Play listing says it is “designed exclusively for members of the trade (Retailers, Wholesalers & Stockists) allowing them to browse and order products from local suppliers”. The listed developer is Applicate IT Solutions Pvt Ltd.6
  • Suggested orders. UNNATI gives retailers “personalised hyperlocal recommendations based on purchase insights”.3
  • Payments on UNNATI. ITC’s bank and FinTech tie-ups for payments and financing are integrated with UNNATI (see above).3
  • Stockists. ITC says it is improving “the digital ecosystem for the stockist channel”.3 ITC’s documents do not name the distributor management system its distributors use.
  • Other channels. Digitally enabled sales and modern trade together are 34% of ITC’s FMCG portfolio.3
