How to become a Coca-Cola distributor
Coca-Cola India does not appoint distributors. It supplies concentrate, and bottlers make, bottle and distribute the drinks, Business Standard reported.1 So your distributorship comes from the bottler that owns your area. The biggest, Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB), has a “Distributor Inquiry” option on its contact form.4

Coca-Cola follows a franchise-led model in India: it supplies concentrate, and bottlers manufacture, bottle and distribute the finished drinks, Business Standard reported in December 2025.1 SLMG Beverages, one of the bottlers, puts it the same way on its website: Coca-Cola owns and markets the brands, and the bottler handles “the production, sale, and distribution of the beverages”.2 The bottler, not Coca-Cola India, is who you deal with.
Which bottler serves which area. Since January 2024, HCCB, Coca-Cola’s company-owned bottler, has handed regions to franchise bottlers (table below).5,6,7 This is what is on record:
| Bottler | Area (as published or reported) | Contact found |
|---|---|---|
| Hindustan Coca-Cola Beverages (HCCB) | South and West India: its website says its distributor network reaches retailers in 10 states and 200+ districts there.3 | Contact form on hccb.in with a “Distributor Inquiry” option4 |
| Moon Beverages | Delhi, parts of Uttar Pradesh, the North-East and parts of West Bengal; Jharkhand from December 2024.5,6 | info@ |
| SLMG Beverages | Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Bihar (from January 2024) and parts of Madhya Pradesh.2,5 | [email protected], +91 73111 65110, a general enquiry form11 |
| Kandhari Global Beverages | Rajasthan (from January 2024) and North Gujarat (from March 2025); it already operated in parts of Delhi, Himachal Pradesh, Haryana, Punjab, Chandigarh, Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh.5,7 | Not verified: we could not confirm its official website. |
Two bottlers are named for Uttar Pradesh (Moon and SLMG) and two for Delhi (Moon and Kandhari). We could not verify a complete list of bottlers and districts. Our suggestion: ask a shop near you which bottler’s distributor supplies it, and write to that bottler.
HCCB’s size. Business Standard reported in December 2024 that HCCB managed 13 factories, 2,300 distributors and over 23 lakh retailers.6 Its own website now says “2000+ distributors”, and gives about 17 lakh retailers in one place and 20+ lakh in another.3 Across HCCB and the franchise bottlers, Coca-Cola India says the system reaches close to 50 lakh retail outlets.13
Who owns HCCB. Jubilant Bhartia Group said on 23 July 2025 that it had closed its purchase of 40% of HCCB’s parent, Hindustan Coca-Cola Holdings.8 The Economic Times had reported the price as ₹12,500 crore, Business Standard said in December 2024.9 In December 2025 HCCB cut about 300 roles across sales, supply chain, distribution and plants, Business Standard reported, citing The Economic Times.1

Say exactly what you can run
Our suggestion, since no bottler publishes a format: name your town and the areas you can cover, the drink and FMCG brands you carry now, your godown address and size, your vehicles, your GSTIN and FSSAI licence number, and how many shops you supply. Before you pay anything, ask in writing whether a deposit is needed, and for what.
What you need before you apply
No company in this series publishes a full document list. These are the registrations the law itself asks of a distributor, from the government’s own pages:
| Registration | When you need it | Where |
|---|---|---|
| GST | Once your turnover crosses ₹40 lakh (₹20 lakh in Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Puducherry, Sikkim, Telangana, Tripura and Uttarakhand), or at once if you sell to another state. Without it you “can neither collect tax from [your] customers nor claim any input tax credit”, so a distributor supplying GST-registered shops registers. (GST Council) | gst.gov.in |
| FSSAI | For any food. From 1 April 2026: Registration up to ₹1.5 crore turnover, State licence ₹1.5–50 crore, Central licence above ₹50 crore. (FSSAI order, 13 Mar 2026) | foscos. |
| E-way bill | For each consignment over ₹50,000 moved by motor vehicle. Van sales to shops go on a delivery challan. (CBIC, e-way bill FAQ) | ewaybillgst. |
| E-invoice | Once your turnover crosses ₹5 crore, for bills to GST-registered shops. (CBIC Notification 10/2023) | Your billing software, through the GST e-invoice portal |
| Shop & Establishment | Set by each state. Example: Maharashtra registers places with 10 or more workers (Form A) and takes an intimation from smaller ones (Form F), with no fee. | Your state’s labour department |
| Udyam (MSME) | Optional and free. For traders its benefit is limited to priority-sector bank loans. (Ministry of MSME) | udyamregistration. |
FSSAI rules a distributor must follow
- Buy and sell food only from and to FSSAI licensed or registered businesses, and keep the records. (FSSAI licence conditions)
- Give a warranty in Form E on your bill or cash memo when you sell food to a shop.
- Licences and registrations issued from 1 April 2026 do not expire; the fee is still yearly, and you may pay several years at once. (FSSAI FAQ, 27 Mar 2026)
- On the application, tick every kind of business that applies: Distributor/
Supplier, Wholesale Trade, Storage/ Warehouse/ Cold Storage. - Fees: the last published table is ₹100 a year for registration and ₹2,000 for a State licence for traders. FSSAI said in March 2026 that fees were reduced, so check the amount on FoSCoS when you apply.
Money: what is on record
- Margins. No bottler publishes them. Business Standard reported in October 2024 that established soft-drink companies give distributors 3.5-5%, while Reliance’s Campa was offering 6-8%.17 Those are industry figures, not a Coca-Cola disclosure.
- Credit and payment terms. Not published by HCCB, SLMG or Moon.
- Investment and deposits (for coolers, crates or bottles). Not published.
Fake “Coca-Cola distributorship” offers
The common patterns of these frauds are in our main guide.
Once you are appointed: what the work looks like
- Shops order on Coke Buddy. More than 10 lakh retailers have used Coca-Cola India’s retailer app. Shopkeepers order any time, track deliveries and see prices and promotions; a “Suggested Order” feature recommends products from past purchases.13
- Those orders reach the distributor. At SLMG, Coke Buddy (launched in its Agra zone in 2023) “integrates our retail customers to distributors to backend ERP System”; SLMG runs D365, Vxceed, CTS and Track Now on Microsoft Azure.14 HCCB says it runs a “streamlined order management system”.3
- More outlets, coolers and distribution points. HCCB’s CFO said in November 2025 that its growth will come from new outlets, more coolers, a stronger street presence and more distribution points, and that HCCB had invested ₹6,500 crore in India in two years, Business Standard (PTI) reported.15
- HCCB’s daily supply. Its website says it runs over 4,000 shipments a day with 5,000+ suppliers and 2,000+ distributors.3
Questions people ask
Does Coca-Cola India appoint distributors directly?
No. Coca-Cola supplies concentrate and its bottlers make, bottle and distribute the drinks, so the bottler that owns your area appoints distributors. Coca-Cola India’s contact page is for consumers only.
How do I apply to HCCB for a Coca-Cola distributorship?
Use the “Get in Touch” form on hccb.
