How to become a Dabur distributor

Dabur sold to 5,084 dealers and distributors in 2025-26 and reaches 15.2 lakh shops directly.1 The distributor form on dabur.com is for overseas markets only, and India is not in its country list.3 Here is how Dabur’s chain works, what it does publish, and the fake “Dabur distributorship” sites a court has named.

How Dabur appoints distributors

Dabur’s annual report says it has “selling arrangements primarily in India through independent distributors”, while most institutional sales are handled by the company directly (p. 335).1 In 2025-26 its goods came from 12 own factories and 81+ third-party units, through 3 mother warehouses and 26 carrying & forwarding agents (C&F agents); it sold 6.54 crore cases that year (p. 97).1

Below the C&F agent there are two chains. Dabur’s latest published channel chart, from August 2018, shows:2

MarketChain in Dabur’s 2018 chart
UrbanFactory → C&F agent → stockist (general trade, modern trade or institutional) → wholesaler → retailer
RuralFactory → C&F agent → super stockist → sub-stockist → retailer
  • Bigger sub-stockists made direct. The same 2018 presentation planned the “Conversion of bigger substockist to direct”, to raise Dabur’s direct reach to 12 lakh outlets.2
  • The numbers now. In 2025-26 Dabur sold to 5,084 dealers and distributors (6,673 the year before), and 68% of its sales went through them (p. 561). Its direct reach is 15.2 lakh outlets, up 1 lakh in the year, its total reach 85 lakh outlets (p. 196), and it covers 1.33 lakh villages (p. 255).1
  • “Yoddhas” in villages. Dabur says a network it calls “Yoddhas” supports its village coverage: 19,900 of them at the end of April–June 2025.8 The pages we read do not say who a Yoddha is, so we do not describe the role.
  • Why direct distributors. In March 2021 Dabur’s sales head Adarsh Sharma told The Economic Times: “Direct reach helps us establish a better connect with the retailer”.10

How to apply: what Dabur publishes

  1. Know that the dabur.com form is not for India

The “Apply for Distribution” page on dabur.com/apply-distribution is the “Overseas Distributorship Form - Real Fruit Beverages & Healthcare Products”. Its country list is Philippines, Suriname, South Korea, Thailand, Indonesia, Botswana, Namibia, Senegal, Vietnam, Mozambique, Afghanistan, Colombia, Armenia, Jamaica, Iraq, Trinidad & Tobago, Kazakhstan and Other. India is not in it.3 It asks for turnover in US dollars and warehouse sizes in square metres.3

  2. Use the contacts Dabur does publish

Dabur publishes no distributor route for India. Its published contacts are customer service on 1800-103-1644 and daburcares@dabur.com, and a contact form whose “Purpose of contact” options are Feedback, Suggestions, Special Message, Query, Grievances and Proposals, with no distributorship option.4 It also lists its corporate office in Kaushambi, Sahibabad, Ghaziabad 201010 (phone 0120 3962100) and regional “Brand Offices” in Ahmedabad, Bangalore, Kolkata, Chandigarh, Chennai, Delhi, Guwahati, Hyderabad, Indore, Jaipur, Kochi, Mumbai, Patna and Raipur. The Delhi office, for example, is at Punjabi Bhawan, 10 Rouse Avenue, New Delhi 110002, phone 011 71206000.5 Our suggestion: call the Brand Office for your region and ask who handles distributor or sub-stockist appointments for your district. Some Brand Office entries still show old email addresses that do not end in dabur.com, so use the phone.5

  3. Say exactly what you can run

Our suggestion: say whether you want a town stockist role or a rural super stockist or sub-stockist role; name the town or the villages you can cover; list the brands you distribute now, your godown address and size, your vehicles, your GSTIN and FSSAI number, and how many shops you supply today. If you will carry Odomos, say whether you hold an insecticide licence (see below).

What you need before you apply

No company in this series publishes a full document list. These are the registrations the law itself asks of a distributor, from the government’s own pages:

RegistrationWhen you need itWhere
GSTOnce your turnover crosses ₹40 lakh (₹20 lakh in Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Puducherry, Sikkim, Telangana, Tripura and Uttarakhand), or at once if you sell to another state. Without it you “can neither collect tax from [your] customers nor claim any input tax credit”, so a distributor supplying GST-registered shops registers. (GST Council)gst.gov.in
FSSAIFor any food. From 1 April 2026: Registration up to ₹1.5 crore turnover, State licence ₹1.5–50 crore, Central licence above ₹50 crore. (FSSAI order, 13 Mar 2026)foscos.fssai.gov.in
E-way billFor each consignment over ₹50,000 moved by motor vehicle. Van sales to shops go on a delivery challan. (CBIC, e-way bill FAQ)ewaybillgst.gov.in
E-invoiceOnce your turnover crosses ₹5 crore, for bills to GST-registered shops. (CBIC Notification 10/2023)Your billing software, through the GST e-invoice portal
Shop & EstablishmentSet by each state. Example: Maharashtra registers places with 10 or more workers (Form A) and takes an intimation from smaller ones (Form F), with no fee.Your state’s labour department
Udyam (MSME)Optional and free. For traders its benefit is limited to priority-sector bank loans. (Ministry of MSME)udyamregistration.gov.in

FSSAI rules a distributor must follow

  • Buy and sell food only from and to FSSAI licensed or registered businesses, and keep the records. (FSSAI licence conditions)
  • Give a warranty in Form E on your bill or cash memo when you sell food to a shop.
  • Licences and registrations issued from 1 April 2026 do not expire; the fee is still yearly, and you may pay several years at once. (FSSAI FAQ, 27 Mar 2026)
  • On the application, tick every kind of business that applies: Distributor/Supplier, Wholesale Trade, Storage/Warehouse/Cold Storage.
  • Fees: the last published table is ₹100 a year for registration and ₹2,000 for a State licence for traders. FSSAI said in March 2026 that fees were reduced, so check the amount on FoSCoS when you apply.

What Dabur has said about distributor money

  • Fewer days of stock. Business Standard reported in Nov 2024 that Dabur had cut distributor inventory from 30 days to 21 days to improve distributors’ return on investment, with a target of 19 days by December 2024.11 In October 2024 Dabur said: “we took a proactive decision to rationalize inventory in the General Trade”, pointing to pressure from quick commerce.12 Plan your working capital for the lower figure.
  • Margins. Dabur does not publish distributor margins. The Economic Times reported in Jan 2024 that “most distributors earn fixed margins between 3-6% irrespective of sales”, plus variable margins for hitting targets, and named Dabur among the companies reworking distribution. That is an industry-wide figure, not Dabur’s.13
  • Payment terms, investment and deposit. Dabur does not publish them for India, and we found no credible report of them.

Fake “Dabur distributorship” offers

The Delhi High Court case, December 2025

On 24 Dec 2025 the Delhi High Court (Justice Prathiba M. Singh) gave its judgment in Dabur India Ltd v. Ashok Kumar & Ors, CS(COMM) 135/2022. The case was about websites that posed as Dabur and asked people who wanted a Dabur distributorship or franchise to register. The judgment records that “payment to the tune of Rs. 25,000/- was also being sought from such prospective franchisees and distributors for registration”.7 It names these fake domains:7

  • www.dbraur.in (marked “still active” in the judgment)

Our suggestion: a website with “dabur” plus “distributor” or “franchise” in its address is the pattern in this case. Do not pay it; Dabur says it deals with trade only through www.dabur.com.6 The common patterns of these frauds are in our main guide.

Once you are appointed: what the work looks like

  • Ordering goes digital. Dabur’s 2025-26 strategy lists “Digital-first distributor ordering platforms” (p. 79).1 Business Standard reported in Nov 2024 that a new B2B and retailer app uses AI to suggest each outlet’s product mix; we did not find the app’s name.11
  • Odomos needs an insecticide licence. Distributors selling Odomos liquid vaporiser, an insecticide product, need an insecticide licence. In November 2023 CEO Mohit Malhotra said: “Most of our distributors have already taken insecticide licenses”.9
  • Less stock in general trade. Expect pressure to hold fewer days of stock (see above).11,12
  • Fakes in your market. Dabur’s annual report names counterfeit products, “particularly in rural and wholesale markets”, as an ongoing risk, and lists strong distributor and retailer engagement among its responses (p. 45).1
  • Training for young distributors. Dabur runs a Distributor Leadership Programme with IIM Ahmedabad for young Dabur distributors (p. 105).1
